A New "Pirates of the Caribbean" Attraction at Walt Disney World

Over the past couple weeks there have been rumors and rumblings about a new pirate-themed attraction coming to Walt Disney World.  Well, they have officially confirmed that The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow will be opening this fall at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Details are slowly coming out, but it sounds like the attraction will be some kind of virtual world type of ride.  It will give visitors to the park a chance to become immersed in the world of the four “Pirates of the Caribbean” films.

The entire 10-Episode 4th Season will be hitting Netflix all at once, on the SAME DAY.  Hurwitz said, "There's going to be some mystery sprinkled throughout this, but instead of watching one a week and try to get ahead of it... the hope is that fans will watch them all together and then go back and look for clues and connections."

No specific release date has been announced, but production is set to begin this summer.

Guns N’ Roses Alumni Perform at 2012 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Memebers of the original Guns N’ Roses lineup, and two other alumni, got together for a three song set at the 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony tonight (April 14, 2012).

Duff McKagan, Slash, ‘Use Your Illusion’-era drummer Matt Sorum and guitarist Gilby Clarke kicked things off with a rendition of ‘Mr. Brownstone.’

Then original drummer Steven Adler took over for the next two songs, ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ and ‘Paradise City.’

Slash’s current bandmate Myles Kennedy handled vocal duties with a little help from Green Day‘s Billy Joe Armstrong on the first number.  Kennedy filled in as nicely as could be expect, if you couldn’t get Axl Rose, who is still performing under the Guns N’ Roses name.

Rose, in classic Axl-fashion chose not to attend the festivities via a much-discussed open letter.  Original guitarist Izzy Stradlin also opted out of the fray, as did long-time and current keyboardist Dizzy Reed.

WrestleMania XXVIII: John Cena vs. The Rock

Well since the musical intermission really cooled the crowd, they had to work for a bit to win them back.  More of the audio problems came into play during this one.  They had too many open mics, you could clearly hear The Rock calling a lot of spots.
I haven't seen a old school "arm check" in a while.

The Rock never should've won that match.  This really was his moment to pass the torch.  But like history has shown us TOO MANY times over, "Ego" will usually beat "The Right Thing To Do" in these situations.  But aside from the finish, I thought the match was decent.  Again, not having the crowd fired up at the start really hurt them in the begining.  But the finish was awesome, even though the wrong guy won.

WrestleMania XXVIII: Music Acts / Intermission

At this point in the show, this was a horrendous scheduling move.  They booked a  20min musical intermission (Brodus Clay, MGK & Flo Rida) in between Punk/Jericho & Rock/Cena.  The crowd went completely cold at a point when they needed them to be at their hottest.  It seemed to take a lot for them to get back into it once Rock/Cena got started.  Once they got to Punk/Jericho they should have punched the gas and not let up til the end of the night.  But that Musical Piss Break brought the show to a screeching halt... I mean really, the crowd boo'd MGK off... and then still had to sit through another meaningless act.

When Brodus Clay came out I thought it was a poor booking choice, but I figured they were going to have a 5 minute squash match so people could run to the bathrooms before Rock vs. Cena.  But then he stopped and started the phone call business, and it just got worse.  That segment had no business being in that spot, leading up to the Main Event.

Then Diddy comes out and seemed to have a bit of trouble remembering the name of the act he was introducing...  Machine Gun Kelly comes out to sing a song that we've heard 47,000 times over the past few months.  Then he felt the need to compare himself to John Cena, as the underdog... and the crowd  boo'd him off.  Not a good sign heading into the final match of the night.
Oh but they weren't done yet!
Out comes Flo Rida to do another song that we've been hearing in our sleep for months.  The crowd shots were priceless.  A sea of bored and disinterested faces.  It was kind of funny to watch as The Rock had to navigate the obstacle course of backup dancers to get through the stage.
The amount of time they took to do all this could have easily been filled with a half way decent match.  And it should have definitely been scheduled right after Triple H vs. Undertaker, that way you'd have the 12-man Tag Match to get the crowd back to their seats and settled in, then Punk and Jericho to ramp the energy back up leading to the big payoff of Rock vs. Cena.  Putting it where they did absolutely killed the momentum they had built.

WrestleMania XXVIII: CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho (WWE Heavyweight Championship)

My first thought... Jericho's jacket really doesn't play on this large of a stage.  Especially since the lights on the left sleeve didn't work.

They really got off to a slow start, and had too much soap opera talking early on.  After about 10 minutes it finally turned into a wrestling match.

I think a lot of people's expectations of this one was a Savage/Steamboat from WrestleMania III type match.  The problem is they just don't make matches like Savage vs. Steamboat anymore.  Those were two guys in peak condition and at the prime of their careers.  In comparisson... yes, Punk is in the place that he could put on one of those matches.  But I honestly think that Jericho is about 10 years removed from that moment.  That being said Chris can still put on great matches, and this one was a very good match.  But there's a difference between putting on a great match and putting on one that will be referenced throughout generations as one of the Top 3 matches of ALL TIME!

The show seemed to have a lot of audio problems during the whole thing.  The most noticeable for me was that Jerry Lawler sounded like his mic was off during this match.

All things considered, I think the match was good and it had the right finish.

WrestleMania XXVIII: Team Johnny vs. Team Teddy (12-Man Tag Team Match)

This was probably the most boring match of the night, even more then the Women's Tag Match.

They had a very brief moment of anarchy that was fun to watch.  But the bigger story in this one was Eve's heel turn on Ryder.  I'm personally a huge fan of Eve.  I think she has definite potential to be the #1 Diva on the show.  She's got a ton of personality and can actually act.  Which has been rare qualities in Divas for many years.  Plus she can actually work in the ring too.

They got the finish right on this one too.  Laurinaitis has come along as a ok heel, and in my opinion, the GM/management on the shows need to be a heel.  It always makes for better story telling.

WrestleMania XXVIII: Triple H vs. Undertaker (Hell in a Cell)

I'm gonna start by saying, as far as complete matches... this one gets Match of the Night.

It might've been about 10 minutes too long, give or take.  But it was also being billed as the #2 Main Event behind Rock/Cena... so the length was kind of expected.

Best thing they could've done is have JR call this match.  He should've done Rock/Cena too, but beggars can't be choosers.

Both entrances are tailor made for Mania.  Triple H's haunted house/ Castle Greyskull... Taker's bad ass duster that would make Super Shredder jealous... Classic WrestleMania showmanship.

The FORCED backstory that Michael Cole kept pushing, about Undertaker's hair, was just unnecessary.  So he cut a little bit off each day until Hunter accepted the match?  Sounds like something they thought up Sunday morning.

It was vicious and violent from the jump.  The match told a great story.  You felt that these two guys gave absolutely everything they had to give and left nothing in the tank by the end of the match.  It was a physical and emotional roller coaster from start to finish... and if this was the swan song for these characters, they went out the right way.

WrestleMania XXVIII: Eve Torres & Beth Phoenix vs. Kelly Kelly & Maria Menounos

This was a completely unnecessary gimmick match booked 100% for media attention...  There's a number of problems with this one.  They didn't need Maria's attachment to get media attention... they have a huge movie star in the Main Event.

I'll give credit where it's due, Kelly Kelly has come a long way as a in ring performer.  But as soon as Maria got in the ring the match came to a complete stop.  It basically looked like Beth and Eve were trying to wrestle with a tackling dummy.  She didn't move.

At least when Kelly was it there was some action happening... and either one of her big spots would've been acceptable finishes. But of course the celebrity has to get the school boy finish for the win.

WrestleMania XXVIII: Cody Rhodes vs. Big Show (Intercontinental Title)

This was a decent match... kind of quick for a Title match, but they had a lot of good, high impact spots.  It was a good way for them to wrap up the "Cody bullying Show" story.  And of course it's nice to see Big Show finally "get his WrestleMania moment."

WrestleMania XXVIII: Kane vs. Randy Orton

They put on a good, solid  mid-card match.  Good pace without any down moments.  The finish was really strong with the big 2nd rope chokeslam.

Kane needs to be put in a vicious, heavy hitting angle... with limited talking.  More action, less blah blah blah.

Orton should start getting pushed into the Title race again.

WrestleMania XXVIII: Sheamus vs. Danial Bryan (World Heavyweight Title)

It comes off as pretty lazy and disrespectful, in my opinion, when a WrestleMania Title match opens the show as a 18 second squash match...  I'm putting this on Creative not knowing what to do with that Title or the Champions that hold it.  Personally I think they've reached the point where they need to do one of two things... either dump the "SuperShow" concept with RAW, redistribute the talent evenly (with some credible Main Event talent on Fridays), and make SmackDown a quality stand alone show. Instead of the RAW clip show with a few matches that it's become... or, it just might be time to unify the Heavyweight Titles again.
